Beyond The Stories We Tell
One of the limitations of conventional talking therapies is that they depend on our ability to identify and communicate aspects of our psyche that often aren’t within reach.
We can’t address what we don’t see – either because we’re simply not aware, or because we have a bias toward familiar narratives about ourselves and our experiences. In a funny way, telling our stories can sometimes keep us at a distance from deeper truths.
One of the fundamental principles of Connected State Therapy is the creation of an internal environment where these hidden connections can reveal themselves naturally. With the right state of consciousness and the right kind of attention, the psyche shows us exactly what needs to be seen and processed.
Working in this way is powerful, deeply meaningful, and often surprising. This is why clients often say things like: “I’m making all these connections – I never realised it all went so deep.” A client recently reflected that he had discovered more about himself in the course of the past year working together than he had in the previous 60.
